Not Good Enough, 18 Sep 2011

I purchased this Toshiba TV after reading many reviews on various TVs. This Toshiba seemed to fit the bill and was very attractively priced. My biggest gripe is the very poor sound quality, it is very harsh and tinny and though maximum bass is selected, has very little effect. The response to the remote is very sluggish, it takes several seconds before you know if the operation is successful. This TV also becomes active of its own accord during the early hours which, as it is in the bedroom, is quite annoying. The red/green power light starts flashing and the remote becomes unresponsive. The main power has to be interupted to resolve the situation. All in all I suppose you get what you pay for!

Good budget bedroom tv, 19 Sep 2011

If you're after a small tv for bedroom use then this is definitely worth a look. Visually the TV is pretty good with a nicely finished glossy case and slim depth.

On the back are plenty of sockets to connect DVDs, consoles etc. The on-screen menus are logical, and you don't really need to look at the manual (which is a good thing).

Once connected up and switched on, the TV guides you through installation and I'm happy to report it was all very simple. Fine tuning the colour, contrast and brightness is also very easy (and worth doing - it's all a bit garish out of the box).

There are some negatives though.
The instruction manual is awful. They must have paid a work experience kid to photocopy it, but only after he'd translated it from whatever language it was originally written in - best off just leave it in the box.
Rather annoyingly the aerial socket protrudes out of the back of the tv - by time you've actually connected the cable it's impossible to push it right back against a wall. A bit of a pain if you've wall mounted it.
Last is the sound. It is tinny - small tv = small speakers = small sound. Nothing to be done about it, but you have been warned.

All in all a good product with a few niggles which knock it down from 5 stars.

This very nice tv has great picture and sound for a good price. If you're looking for a decent sized tv for your bedroom or for gaming then this is perfect. The stand that comes with it has to be screwed on manually, but it's made of metal for extra sturdiness. A quality product.

We bought this recently despite the appalling lack of description on this site!! We googled it and got a proper description from the makers. It works really well, removes water from the air as you would expect, is easy to move around, simple to empty and makes as much noise as any fan e.g. cooker extractor fan or cold air fan for a room. We are pleased with it.

The LG 42PT353K 42-inch. **UPDATE SKY+ HD REMOTE CODE: 0206**

I was looking for something 40" or more that can be shipped to Ireland at this price-point but was worried as there was only one review for this screen at the time.

Worry not! This LG unit is absolutely fantastic quality with both HD and SD inputs. I'm running Sky+ HD box, but no HD subscription and Tested a Wii and USB Stick Movies. All look great on screen with the default settings for the TV.

I notice that the only apparent Audio out is an optical TOSLINK, so I'll be connecting up a hifi to this unit in the future, but it is tolerable audio quality as shipped for everyday viewing, though lacks a bit of low end "kick" for Movies.

I wall mounted the screen, with a window 2 metres away to the left side, and during the day there is some on-screen reflection visible from the Glossy coating if seated to the riight of the screen, so if you have a sunny room be aware it will reflect somewhat.

Colour reproduction is excellent, I work in Graphic Design and use a hardware colour calibrated PC screens for work, so I have a pretty keen eye for these things. I haven't had to worry with the LG 42PT353K. The colour response was great out of the box.

Blacks are good as you would expect on a plasma, and the preset options for Movies, Sport etc. offer great options at a touch of the remote.

The razor frame looks great and gives a sleek overall impression, and for a 42" Plasma it looks good on the wall.

Menus and setup are simple to use, the remote is of good build quality. There are some touch buttons on the bottom right of the screen which are so discrete you'd hardly know the existed.

For a 720 screen I was suitably blown away by a nature program on the free BBC HD channel, the WOW effect of detail for Sea creatures moving in water was plain to see, with the water looking so lifelike you would want to jump right in and swim along with the Whales...

5* with no reservations.

Bought one of these in February. It worked OK for a few months then suddenly refused to switch on. Contacted Amazon who asked me to get in touch with LG. When I finally got through to them, LG promised to ring me to make an appointment for an engineer. That was best part of a month ago and no sign of a call from LG. In the meantime Amazon have collected the set and given me a refund. Top marks to Amazon for customer service. Zero marks to LG customer service - if they exist at all, that is. My advice, If you buy one of these get it from a reputable seller like Amazon and don't look to LG for any help.

The Philips LivingColors LED Mood Light is absolutely awesome! The design is so unique and cool, visitors immediately notice it and are interested. My partner and I leave it on random mode which is where the colours fade in and out in a cycle and it gives a really nice feel to the room. I highly recommend it.

Very pleased with this, I wasn't sure what I would get for the money but it is a very robust unit and the light that it gives off is a lot brighter than I expected.

As another poster has said, I think the mini version is perfect for mood lighting, if you want to light up behind the TV or a single wall then this is perfect. If you want to be able to read by it or use it as a light then you need to opt for the big brother.

All in all really chuffed with this product, the continuous cycle function is lovely and it's a real pleasure to sit in the lounge and enjoy the glow.
